The Master List

We, the fabulous, have read....

Nickel and Dimed (NF)
On Bullshit (Academic paper)
Elizabeth I (NF)
In Cold Blood (Historical F)
Candy Girl (Memoir)
Sweet Hereafter (F)
Pope Joan (Historical F)
Memoirs of a Geisha (F)

For those of you that missed Nickel and Dimed, it was written by Barbara Ehrenreich. She went undercover and worked various min wage jobs to see if a human being could actually survive without public assistance. She has a great sense of humor and I found the book to be bewildering and entertaining at the same time

do you guys want to rank the books based on how much we each enjoyed them. Maybe that would help us to figure out what works for us and how to pick books for the future? Here's my ranking:
1. sweet hereafter
2. candy girl
3. in cold blood
4. memoirs of a geisha
5. nickel and dimed
6. pope joan
7. elizabeth I
8. on bullshit

i included in my ranking how well i thought the discussion went after the reading, but it's also based on how much i liked the books. Do you guys think this might help us?

My favorite for discussion was Candy Girl. A book i would have never picked up was Geisha and I loved it. Favorite book was either Nickel and Dimed or Sweet Hereafter.

Here's my ranking:

Best discussion: Candy Girl, In Cold Blood

Favorite read: Memoirs of a Geisha and Pope Joan

Longest: Elizabeth I

Shortest: On Bullshit

Book that left me wanting more and scrating my head: Sweet Hereafter

Nickle & Dimed was before I joined the group so I can't rank it. I think Candy Girl tops just about everyone's favorite discussion list becuase we mention it at almost every meeting. But who can blame us, as talk of demos and visuals also tend to pop up in conversation.

Kelley, we have missed you like the deserts miss the rain. i wrote that for you. it's cool there seems to be some consensus at least with regard to what discussions were good, even if we disagree how much we liked certain books. Hopefully we can keep picking winners.

If Butch ever writes a novel it's not getting past our extremely strict voting process.

There is always good discussion to be had at BC!! This is definately a chatty group, if there ever was one. Usually even more so when we are split on liking a book or not.

By the way I do have number envy. Kelley's got 55 profile views and I only have a meager 24. Goes to show you nobody finds a middle aged broad that likes Auntie Mame or Gladiator...
