Upcoming reads

Ok guys, I admit, I might have screwed up when I recommended Marie Antionette. You can check it out on Amazon.com. They have exerpts and stuff posted on it so you can look a the table of contents, index, front & back covers.... It might be a long dry read.

If you want to pick an alternative to it, you won't hurt my feelings. Although in the depths of January we all might be looking for a long book to curl up with...

In the meantime, I've ordered the Red Scarf Girl for a whopping $.93 (plus shipping). I think I need a 12 step meeting for on-line shopping (and blogging).

What was the other book you suggested Maureen? Wasn't it Black Dahlia? We can always do that.

i'm good either way. the marie anntoinette book is the one that was used for the sophia coppola movie, but i wouldn't mind reading the black dahlia book either. Should we vote?

My other suggestion was the black daliah (I don't have the author in front of me at the moment). One of my other picks was Running with Sissors by Augustine something or other.

I ordered all of the books on line through Amazon (except for Devil Wears Prada as I've read that before and can borrow a copy when the time comes). I think that Marie Anntionette would be intersting, but now that I've looked further at it I'm afraid that it will be too "textbookish". It's almost 500 pages, not bad, but it references 53 other books, and the index is something like 8 pages long.

I have to kind of agree with Kelley's quoteable quote, I just want to read, not learn anything.

However everyone likes a good mob & gueitilline scene(forgive my spelling, it's bad in English or French.) Plus it is a movie hitting theaters soon. Maybe we could skkp the book and see the movie as a group instead. As long as it isn't 4 hours long!

Just some thoughts. I'm easy (just not cheap) and will do what the group wants.

We can probably switch it with no resistance since we were the thre in support of Marie Antoinette.

We'll bring it up at next BC to get everyone's opinion. No rush on this one. I will send out an email warning everyone that perhaps we should not purchase this book (Marie Antoinette) just yet.

Thanks Shannon. Sorry I don't mean to be a pain about it. I was just afraid that I'd be pelted with stones and rocks for picking a stinker.

Don't worry about it- we're a flexible group.

it's no biggie maureen, both of your choices were good and we can tell you just don't want to pick a book we won't enjoy.
